The Talkgroups forum has been launched to help voluntary and community groups in Herefordshire communicate about issues that affect them.
If you are on the home page, you can see all the discussions, with the most recently added discussions added at the top of the list. Discussions are conversations between members about a topic.
If you are looking for a particular discussion and you can't see it, you can use the Search or you can use the Categories tabs to narrow down the discussions shown. Categories are the main groups of discussions. FOR EXAMPLE Funding/Bid Support, Planning, Information Computing and Technology, Management.
Use the Search to find a bit of text in one of the discussions or comments, or a particular member. Type the text you want to find into the search box and choose where you want to search by choosing from the radial buttons. To search Discussions, choose Topics. To search Members, choose Users.
For an advanced search, click the Advanced link in red at the top right hand corner of the search box (to close it again, click the Simple link, for less options!) This will let you narrow your search down, especially if you know the author (or member) who added the discussion or comment.
First, find the discussion that you want to join. Type your comments into the box at the bottom of the page and press the Add your comments button. You must be signed in as a member to add comments.
To join the forum, click the Sign In link in the top right hand corner of the page. You will then be given the option to Sign in, or to Apply for Membership (using the link below the Proceed button).
Fill in all the fields on the form (choosing between completing the code or giving a reason why you cannot see it) and press the Proceed button. Filling in the form does not automatically make you a new member, as your membership will have to be approved by the forum administrator.
Have you filled in all the fields on the form? If you are still having problems with registering, contact info@talkgroups.org.uk.
If you have not received a welcome message from the forum administrator to tell you that your membership has been approved, you will not be able to add comments to any of the discussions. You must be signed in as a member to add comments.
If the administrator has received a report that your comments are unsuitable for the discussion or the forum, they will warn you to take care to follow the discussion and ensure you follow the rules of the forum. Warnings can follow if you have advertised, disclosed the personal details of yourself or another member, or simply not followed the topic of the discussion.
If you have added a comment or discussion that is considered objectionable, the forum administrator may delete your account and deny you access to the forum without warning.
A bookmark can be added to a website page to allow you to return to it at a later date. Choosing to bookmark a discussion simply highlights the fact that you found it interesting.
Sink is a term used on forums to show disapproval of the discussion. Forum users are likely to ignore a discussion that has been sunk by another member.
Sticky is a term used on forums for a discussion that is likely to be of interest and so the administrator has chosen to keep it at the top of the discussion list.
Click the Sign in link in the top right hand corner of the website. On the Sign in page, there is a Forgot your password? link underneath the Proceed button. You will be sent instructions on how to change your password by email to the address that you used when you signed up.
If you are signed in to Talkgroups, you can see an Account tab in the top menu. Click this tab to change your details, then choose from the links shown below the Start a new discussion link.
You can change your name and email address in Personal Information, Change your Password, or change how you want the discussions to display using Forum Preferences.
